Dr. Sussman is a lifelong New Yorker and has practiced Urology in Brooklyn New York since graduating from Downstate Medical School in 1974. After his residency in urology at Brooklyn Jewish Hospital and Downstate Medical Center he became permanently Board Certified from the American Board of Urology in both pediatric and adult urology in 1980. He has been in private practice at 1 Hanson Place, the former Williamsburg Savings Bank Building, continuously since 1979.
Aside from his private practice Dr. Sussman has held positions at hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout the New York Area including The Brooklyn Hospital, Methodist Hospital and St. Joachim and Anne Nursing Home. Dr. Sussman has served as President of the Professional Staff at The Brooklyn Hospital. In addition he has served as Chairman of Quality Assurance, Chairman of the Medical Board and Chairman of the Operating Room Committee at the Brooklyn Hospital. At the Methodist Hospital Dr. Sussman has served as Chairman of the Credentials Committee and member of the Quality Assurance Committee and Executive Committee. He has also served as Medical Director of the St. Joachim and Anne Nursing Home and currently holds a position on their Board of Directors.
Dr. Sussman has four children and has been elected and re-elected continuously to his local school board since 1995 where he has served as both President and Vice President. For over 20 years he has volunteered his time and treated patients who did not have any insurance in emergency and clinical settings at Brooklyn Hospitals .
